Place Based Working for Improving Health – NW School of Public Health Annual Conference March 2017

calum

Donna Bradshaw and Sam Tunney, CEO of Well North, delivered a masterclass to share their learning and experiences of working with ten northern towns and cities to develop place based approaches to improving health. Sam and Donna shared the importance of taking the time to discover the local people and leaders.

This requires working in new ways, creating space and opportunity for local people and communities to develop ideas and passions for their lives and to make powerful connections across often disconnected services and enterprises.

Donna and Sam shared that they hear a very consistent message about what helps people to feel well, healthy and happy – a decent home; a purpose to get out of bed in the morning and good relationships with family, friends and community.
